„Shaping Innovation Together – Intelligent Manufacturing for the Future”- The Sino-German SME Cooperation & Communication Conference 2017 has been inaugurated on October 20th 2017 in the Shandong Hotel. The conference was sponsored by the National Ministry of Industry & Information and by the Government of Shandong Province as the main hosts. Special support unit was the German Chamber of Commerce Shanghai. The conference was organized by The Committee of Shandong Province for Economy & Information, the Government of Jinan City, the Bureau of Shandong Province for SMEs and the German-Chinese Business Association (DCW). The conference was supported by the International Department - Central Committee of the CPC, The Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Province, The Office of Jinan City for Talent Work Leading Group, The Management Committee of Jinan Hi-Tech Zone, The German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW) and others.
Unveiling Ceremony of the Sino–German (Jinan) SME Cooperation Zone by Party Group Member and Member of the Ministry of Industry & Information, General Engineer Zhang Feng and Vice Mayor of Shandong Province Wang Shujian. Wulf Linzenich, Board Member of the German-Chinese Business Association (DCW), former Vice-President of the European Patent Office Jacques Michel and more than 100 other foreign guests attended the conference and opening ceremony. Wang Zhonglin, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Jinan City and Mayor of Jinan City, gave a speech at the opening ceremony. Leader of the Municipal Standing Committee of the CPC of Jinan City, Li Gang, Municipal Standing Committee Member and Jinan City Municipal Government Party Group Vice-Secretary Xu Qun, Municipal Standing Committee Member and Jinan Hi-Tech Zone Director Wang Hongzhi, Jinan City Vice Mayor Li Zijun and Jinan City Government Secretary-General Mao Huaming attended the conference.

Egon Müller, Professor of the Technical University Chemnitz, gave a presentation about 《Requirements and Challenges of Transformation of Business Technology Achievements and Application of Industry 4.0》. Thomas Reichenbach, Chief Representative of the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW) in China gave a presentation on 《Current Situation of the Chinese-German Cooperation in the Life Science Sector》. James Stewart, CEO of Menlo LLP, gave a presentation on《Comparison of China-UK High Technology Venture Capital Investments and common Opportunities and Challenges》. Wen Bin, Chief Representative of the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association in China, gave a presentation on 《Brief Talk on Germanys Industry 4.0》 and Gabriel S. Morris, Director of the Mergers & Acquisitions Department of the Deutsche Bank China, gave a presentation on《The five Key Elements of Chinese Companies to successfully invest abroad》.
Since 2015, the Sino-German SME Cooperation & Communication Conference was continuously successfully held two times in 2015 and 2016. More than 1100 Chinese and Foreign Companies participated at the conference and played an active role regarding broadening the economical and cultural communication, promoting Jinan Cities International Opening and pushing forward Investment attraction from Germany and Europe. On 31th May 2017, the National Ministry of Industry & Information approved the establishment of a Chinese-German (Jinan) SME Cooperation Area, matching Chinas “Made in China 2025” and Germanys “Industry 4.0” Strategy, strengthen the development cooperation with Germany regarding Smart Production, Industrial Internet and other fields, actively implement an open strategy for a mutual win-win situation, fully develop innovation leading and example roles, actively explore new Chinese-German SME industrial cooperation patterns, new channels, new and developing measures, establish the Cooperation Area as an important platform for recommending new advanced technologies, management experiences and talents of high quality.
In the afternoon of the 20th October 2017, after the main forum with above mentioned presentations, six big different forums with the topics Smart Production, Financial Services, Life Sciences, Human Resources, Intellectual Property Rights, Big Data and a special Technical Skill Competition were successfully held at the Shandong Hotel and the Shandong Yingcai University. On the 21th October 2017, a Sino-German SME Cooperation Project Communication Match-Making Activity and Project Signing Ceremony were successfully held in the Ramada Hotel. 66 Foreign companies, 47 Chinese companies and more than 200 Representatives of Foreign and Chinese companies participated at the Match-Making Activity and 21 Projects were successfully signed. Content of the signed projects relates to foreign investments, hiring talents, industria investments, technology cooperation and other fields.
